April 2016  Congratulations to our Perennial Math team for a 2nd place team title and 2nd and 3rd place individual titles. 

April 2016  CBS News This Morning national was on campus for the day to conduct an interview with Richard Louv, author of Last Child In the Woods and Vitamin N.  CHCS was featured in the piece filed by reporter, Mark Strassman and aired April 13.

September 2016  CBS46 Atlanta's education reporter, Astrid Martinez, was on campus for the day and filed a piece on our school which aired in the evening.

November 2016  Congratulations to CHCS for a 7.3 point increase in CCRPI (report card) and for being 5th out of 25 South Fulton elementary schools in terms of CCRPI scores.

December 2016  Congratulations to Cherrika Holloman, Title 1 Parent Liaison, Jessica Denton, Director of Operations, Lindsey Moreen, Title 1 Academic Coach, and Matthew Robinson, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, for receiving a score of "A" on our first Title 1 audit and inventory of Title1-purchased equipment (Chromebooks, IPAD minis, computer carts, document cameras, etc.).  We even received an additional commendation of "Model School"! 

February 2017  Congratulations to 4 CHCS students for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the Palmetto Library's annual Black History Writing Contest.  Sarah Michelle Edwards (3rd), Brooke Hughes (6th), Francisco Newman (7th), and Janiyah Greer (7th) will receive a prize and recognition during the Summer Reading Kickoff hosted by Palmetto Library in May.

March 2017  Congratulations to Brianna Green (7th) and Brooke Hughes (6th) for earning one of the top scores in the advanced and intermediate levels, respectively, of the Perennial Math competition.

March 2017  Congratulations to Mr. Miller's kindergarten class for earning a certificate of achievement from iXL for completing over 100,000 math and reading questions on iXL's online program!

March 2017  Congratulations to Ms. Love (Intervention Team) for being awarded Fulton County Schools' "You Make a Difference" awards for being staff member of the month for February!

April 2017  Congratulations to Mr. Long for a perfect "A", 100%, on an unannounced health department inspection of our school kitchen!

April 2017  Congratulations to Mr. Miller (Kindergarten Team) for being awarded Fulton County Schools' "You Make a Difference" awards for being staff member of the month for March! 

April 2017  Congratulations, Math Teams!  Our math teams competed in the Perennial Math competition yesterday at Oak Hill Middle School in Milledgeville.  Our 5th/6th Grade Team in the Intermediate division is comprised of Ngozi A (6th), Sydnei S (6th), Brooke H (6th), Niaja M (5th), and Kennedy V (5th). They earned 2ND PLACE in their division, ranking higher than over 20 other teams !!! (Team Name: Sh-Einsteins)  We had two teams in the Advanced division and they are all 7th grade students. One team is comprised of JaNiyah G, Maddie P, Stephanie K, Mekhi B, and Bailey H. This team walked away with 3RD PLACE in their division !!! (Team Name: 2 Infinity & Beyond)  The second team is comprised of Jordan C, Tyler D, Alaina C, Brianna G, and Deja N. This team led the school's recognition last year at the Regional Tournament at Univ. West Georgia after having earned 2nd Place in CHCS' very first competition as a team. Well this year, they earned the GOLD and took FIRST PLACE in the Advanced division !!! (Team Name: I Square To Keep It Real)  We ALSO have individual champions:  Brooke H. placed 2nd in the 6th Grade Division; Tyler D. placed 3rd in the 7th Grade Division; and Alaina C. placed 2nd in the 7th Grade Division.  All 15 students have QUALIFIED for NATIONALS, scheduled for late May as a virtual tournament. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating our students’ successes this weekend. They worked hard and deserve it.  THRIVE!
