When parents enroll their children in CHCS, they are asked to volunteer at the school. Two parent households are asked to spend at least 20 hours per school year, and single parent households are asked to spend at least 10 hours per school year volunteering. This is in place for one reason: we believe that parental involvement in the school benefits all enrolled children.
Hours can be earned in various ways:
- Basic administrative/secretarial tasks at the school. The school can also send some administrative work home with your child so that you can accomplish these hours during evening hours, or without a background check.
- Helping to prepare and serve lunch at the school.
- Attending PTO meetings
- Campus cleanups, Volunteer days, and event support at various school events
- Other needs as they arise
Specific volunteer opportunities will be posted in the CHCS Weekly Update.
